Are you NUTS?!

Recently  I shared that I visited a dietician.  He told me that the worst thing I could have done for my diverticulitis was to STOP eating nuts. I thought that sounded,  well, NUTS. It was my understanding that nuts were the enemy.  What if a piece gets stick in my intestinal tract? He assured me that the fiber found in nuts is the best for gut health. And yes, there’s a chance it could hurt me,  but there’s also a chance that I could walk outside and be hit by a meteor. 
I am standing before you diverticulitis friends telling you to EAT ALL THE NUTS!!! I have been for a good month now and have had 0 problems. In fact, it seems to be helping my gut issues.  If you are not sure, try a little and wait 2 days for the results.  I bet you find it is. A-ok.
Now that nuts are back in play, snacking and cooking never tasted better!

Detox derailed

So by the end of day 3, I chose to STOP my metabolic detox. There were a few reasons. 
1.) The “medical food” protein powder was horrid. No matter what I tried,  the taste was something I could not overcome.  It tasted, to me, like my vomit smells. For as much as I was instructed to drink it ( 2 times a day gor 3 days and up to 4 times a day for 3 days) I could not get past the taste no matter how I masked it with fruit, kale, juice… So by the third dose and 3 separate attempts with it coming right back up, I stopped with the powder.
2.) My whole body was suffering.  I was falling asleep at work.  I was falling asleep driving home. I had splitting headaches from no caffeine.  And once I got over the initial headaches I had steady all day headaches.  My joints ached. I had bad brain fog. I felt like I had the flu.
3.) Now the gross part. I started having irritation from my bowel movements thar caused me to have continued butt bleeding for 3 days, which includes the days following my quitting the detox. There was no blood IN my stool, just from my butt.
I feel like I wasted time and money here. This may work for some, but not me.

Metabolic Detox: Day 2: Breakfast

I’m not gonna lie. This Metagenics powder is the most disgusting thing I have ever drank. I had to add fruit, cinnamon and almond extract to make it tolerable.  This first round is 1 scoop mixed with unsweetened almond milk. It may as well have been mixed with toilet water. 😦

Breakfast was quinoa “oatmeal”
1/2 c quinoa, rinsed
1 c coconut pineapple water
Cook as directed.

Add no sugar added pear slices and sprinkle with cinnamon.
